Mary Wiesbrock Urging Appointment of Al Adam to the T.O. City Council

February 25th, 2012 · 1 Comment · Conejo Valley, Elections, Thousand Oaks

This, from Mary Wiesbrock, Chair of Save Open Space, Santa Monica Mountains*:

“Save Open Space supported Al Adam in the last Thousand Oaks City Council election, in 2010. The vote count for candidates running for the 3 seats up for election were:
Claudia Bill de la Pena:  20,289, or 18.69%
Andy Fox:  16,896, or 15.56%
Dennis Gillette:  15,014, or 13.83%
The top vote-getter for the other 10 candidates was Al Adam, with 14,868, or 13.69%.  Gillette beat out Adam for the 3rd T.O. City Council seat by only 146 votes!
The T.O. City Council majority just voted to fill Dennis Gillette’s vacancy with an appointment, and not let the residents vote in a November election.  The only fair way to fill the empty council seat by appointment is for council members to respect the will of the voters and appoint Al Adam.”

Al would be the logical replacement for Mr. Gillette. However, those “old boys” won’t ever let that happen. They will appoint someone to join their group based on their needs, not the needs go the community. Honestly, after living here for 37 years, I don’t understand how those guys keep getting re-elected term after term. I don’t believe they have the best interests of Thousand Oaks in their actions. Very frustrating when they knock on your door and lie to your face!
