Since Margot Feuer’s passing on June 16, I have been checking the L.A. Times online obituary section every day, and not found one for her. I could not understand the lack of a write-up on Margot’s life. She was newsworthy as one of the cofounders of our national park in the Santa Monica Mountains when she was with us, and her death was newsworthy as well, since so many folks would want to know that and acknowledge what she gave to us all.
I finally called the obituary news department at the L.A. Times this morning, and got the answer of why no obit. The woman I spoke to on the news desk (not the advertising obit desk), told me that the department had just had news of Margot’s death yesterday, 6-26, and that they were working on the article now. She said there had not been time to prepare it for publication yesterday.
Now I know….should have called them sooner.
