I dropped off old paints and miscellaneous this morning at the Thousand Oaks Hazardous Waste Drop-off, and I am feeling good about it!
It isn’t that it is hard to do, it is just that it takes planning ahead, making an appointment, and then showing up with the items on the scheduled day. Oh, and you have to gather what you want to drop off and have that ready. Prior to today, I managed to do 3 of the 4 steps outlined, and then almost dropped the ball by forgetting that today was drop-off day. As I was driving toward Calabasas midmorning on my way to a westside destination, I remembered what I had scheduled to do.
To my credit, I headed back home, packed up the paints and miscellaneous and made my way to the Thousand Oaks Public Works yard, where the recycling event was happening.
Now, I have a cleaner garage, and only wish that I was given a little sticker that said, “I Recycled,” like the “I Voted” sticker handed out at polling places on election day. No such luck, so I guess cleanliness will have to be its own reward…
