A reader questioned why there was a post about pensions for the City of Westlake Village and for Las Virgenes Municpal Water District here, thinking that the blog’s focus is only Ventura County. Not so! Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Las Virgenes and part of Calabasas are included in the Conejo Valley by my reckoning, which means that L.A. County is, too.
LVMWD was included for another reason, however. That is because Las Virgenes is in partnership with Triunfo Sanitation District in the treatment of wastewater, the production and distribution of recycled water, and the production of compost. Therefore, pension costs of LVMWD impact not only their service area of Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Las Virgenes and Calabasas, but also Triunfo’s, which included Oak Park, the Thousand Oaks part of Westlake, Lake Sherwood and Bell Canyon.
Is 100% employer contribution to non-management employee pensions, what the ratepayers want?
