Wanted to give a heads-up that, today (8-2), I, Janna Orkney, pulled candidate papers for the Division 2 seat on the Calleguas board. I will be filing next week. (Division 2 includes most of the county in the Conejo Valley, except for some of Newbury Park.)
I want to serve on the Calleguas board because I care deeply about ensuring a reliable source of drinking water for those of us who live in east Ventura County, while keeping the cost as low as possible. I will write more, soon, on my goals for Calleguas. (It is the wholesale water agency for 600,000 folks, and supplies potable water to various retail water districts, such as Oak Park Water Service, California-American Water Company, and California Water Service.)
I currently enjoy serving on the board of Triunfo Sanitation District, which owns Oak Park Water Service, and I will continue to serve for another 2 years. Triunfo handles the storage, distribution and sale of water to individual customers. The past 6 years, I have worked with a vision of ensuring a continuous water supply for Oak Park, with the building of a new water tank, which is almost finished, along with installing interties to 2 other districts. I have worked on keeping costs down and keeping our financial reserves in safe investments. More good news was that Triunfo governance changed to an all-elected board in 2010. To make that happen, was one reason I ran for Triunfo in 2006.
That is one side of the water equation. The other side is handled by Calleguas, who buys potable water from the Sacramento Delta from Metropolitan Water District, and then sells it to the retail agencies. Calleguas is also involved with long-term planning and large projects to protect east Ventura County’s water supply. I would like to be a part of that, too, and would like your support.

Read up on Janna and see how she has affected the sanitation and water to the great state it’s in now in the Oak Park area. The Conejo Valley needs more conscientious people like her who would watchdog over irresponsible use of funds.
