We now know the order that candidates’ names will be listed on the November 6 ballot. That order was decided by a drawing of letters by staff at the California Secretary of State’s office on Thursday, 8-16. This drawing applies to all candidates, except those running for California Senate and Assembly, and those letters are drawn in the Elections Division of each county.
Popular wisdom says that a candidate either wants her/his name listed first or last on a ballot, but not placed in the dreaded middle, but I don’t know of any study that has been done to support this.
Since I am running for the District 2 seat on the Calleguas board, which represents most of the Conejo Valley, I could hardly wait to see the ballot listing, and this election, I am enjoying the luck of the draw, with first place! You can check out races you are interested in, here.
