Camera in hand, I was walking to a spot on the greenway along side Kanan Road, where a small Holly Oak tree has been drooping and dying for years. A Ventura County contractor had it planted around 2005, along with a number of other trees. All of them did well, except the droopy one, which never seemed to grow at all.
The first part of 2012, I asked the Oak Park Landscape Committee (under the jurisdiction of the OP MAC), if they would PLEASE take that oak out and put in a healthy one. That hadn’t happened as of 2 days ago, so I was going to take a picture of the bending tree, and take it to the committee meeting last night to ask again for a replacement.
Well, if I had showed up to the meeting without trying to take a photo yesterday, I sure would have had oak leaves on my face! There was a new healthy-looking, tall tree in the spot! I did a dance for joy, and took the first photo.
Now I will share the next photo I want to show the OP Landscape Committee. It shows another spot on the Kanan greenway that surely could use an oak tree, too. After all, the fall is the perfect time to plant, to get maximum root growth…
