Imagine my surprise at spotting an olive-drab motorcycle that looked like it had seen duty in World War II, parked at the Westlake Village Promenade! I was not the only one doing a double-take of the vehicle and snapping photos, when this occurred in the mid-August.
Seeing the old motorcycle with a sidecar took me back to the TV series, Hogan’s Heroes, that ran from 1965 to 1971. An image came to mind of Colonel Hogan escaping from Stalag 13 on the bike, with Colonel Klink and Seargeant Schultz in hot pursuit!
It should be noted that the series did create controversy by its portrayal of the German army authorities as inept and befuddled.
