I joined the few shoppers in Costco mid-afternoon, and I could tell when I drove in the parking lot, that only about half of the usual shoppers were there for that time of day. And, no wonder! The thermometer in my car read 102 degrees, and it probably would have been sensible for me to stay away, too, but I was out of almonds.
So, I went on my almond quest, but had to look through the clotheing tables and a special jewelry counter, plus books, and try some samples, before I picked up the packages of nuts. It made me pause in my browsing when about half the overhead lights went out, wondering if there was some kind of power problem because of the double digit heat. But, no more lights dimmed and the A/C continued, so all was well.
Please note in the photo that part of the entrance is blocked off with fencing and orange blockades. Unfortunately, the person checking merchandise and marking receipts didn’t know what that was about.
