It has been raining off-and-on heavy in my end of the Conejo Valley for over two hours. How unusual! I am so used to a heavy cloudburst happening for 10 minutes or so, and then the sun coming out, but not today. I got caught at 11:30 going to lunch with no umbrella and wearing flip-flops, when the skies opened up with a downpour.
Thank goodness I like to read newspapers, because I used the one on the front seat of my SUV as an umbrella. Of course, that didn’t keep my feet dry from the instant rivers of rushing water in the restaurant’s parking lot, but at least I wasn’t wrecking a pair of shoes.
The rain let up for a while, and then, the thunder and lightening started in very seriously about 1:15. I didn’t see the lightening, but the thunder was so loud, it sounded like it was right overhead, and the heavens opened up again.
Ah, such drama! If I told any old friends in Portland, Oregon, what a big deal the storm was here, I know they would laugh at me. Oh well….I guess you just had to be here to understand!
From the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, here is The Rain, Rain, Rain, Came Down, Down, Down.
