That’s what the man from Ventura County (I believe) told me, while I chatted with him yesterday, as the concrete was being poured for my sidewalk square. He said that the patching material had to harden to 2 weeks, prior to the street overlay being applied, and that during that time, the work crew would head for a project in Ojai. They would then return sometime after 2 weeks to finish the job. In the meantime, it is not attractive.
I checked the tarry patch material just now, and it was still soft.

Leave it to VC. The crew realized that they didn’t have enough asphalt to do OP and Ojai. Once again, OP gets the leftovers and the crew is off to Ojai. They promised next month but we’ll see. I recall street prep a few years ago that was left to deteriorate when VC decided that they didn’t have the funds to do the project properly.
BTW, I think that the speed monitor signs on Sunnycrest came from Ojai leftovers. We can only hope for more leftovers or homeowner billings to get the deteriorating infastructure back to a point where I don’t have to serpentine lanes while traveling the Ventura county portion of Kanan.

First, the patch job as not done properly in spots. Secondly, I believe that we are treated like a cash cow for the county. After all, we pay the most per captia in taxes and get the least amount of services in return. It is outrageous that they have not repaved the street up here in 25 years. I lived in LA county for 10 years and they did the street twice. If they can’t manage senior and mental health services at leat repair the sidewalks and streets.
p.s: The overlay is not a repave or fixing the street. It is a white wash (black wash). The repaves I have seen in neighborhoods in LA county, look good and lasts about 10 to15 years The overlay, is a thin layer that goes over the shoddy patch job and shows the cracks and patches in about a year or so. I am very disappointed in Ventura County. Why even bother?
