I know a thing or two about rain barrels because my boyfriend and I made some out of garbage cans a few years back, and I can highly recommend the Systern Rain Barrel that is for sale in Ventura today.  It is heavy duty, has mosquito mesh at the top opening where the water comes in, and has screw holes on the lid to make it safe for kids, so that their curisoty does not lead to an accidental drowning.  And, of course, it has a tap to turn on and off at the bottom, and a plastic connector to use, if you want to connect a few together.

I think the price is a steal, too, at $57.  I had a lot of fun making my barrels and have used them under downspouts for years.  But, if I could have bought  some for this price, and with a 57 gallon capacity, I sure would have.  The parking lot sale takes place today at the Administration building parking lot, and runs from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.  Let’s go!
