The photo shows were part of the real physical work in running for office takes place…assembling campaign signs, prior to taking them out into the community.
As you can see, I have a very high tech operation, with a folding office table and state-of-the-art stapler. Two staplers so far, have bit the dust, so I bought the one pictured yesterday at – you guessed it – Staples! So far it is working well, but I am not sure about my hands and wrists, which makes me wonder how many campaign workers get carpel tunnel syndrome from sign stapling. But, at least I am alternating hands as I assemble, sharing the workload.
I did have the option of choosing signs made out of corrugated plastic, like cardboard, but I didn’t think they would biodegrade when they ended up in the landfill. So, I opted for the folding signs made out of heavy paper, which has led to all the stapling.
I am sure we are all going to be relieved when the election is over! I surely will be, and will celebrate by taking down my sign assembly central, at least until the next election…
