Here we are with the biggest athletic event of the year in the Conejo Valley, and the principal person is not in attendance for the second year in a row. I read in the paper or watched on TV, the laments of the owner of Johnny P’s BBQ in Westlake Village. He was talking about the business that had been looked forward to, because of folks flocking to see Tiger Wood play in his namesake golf tournament, and how not so many would be showing up now, and eating out before or after watching the golf action.
So,one oddity of this golf event…the guy who it was named after, the most famous and formerly esteemed golfer today, doesn’t show up. The other oddities appeared on TV news coverage, I think it was Wednesday night, and I regret I cannot remember the station. A news reporter stood in front of a billboard advertising the golf tournament with a big headshot of Tiger. The reporter said the sign was in Calabasas, and that Tiger would not be coming there for the tournament. The anchor then commented that it was happening in “the west valley.”
So the other oddities are that, according to at least 1 station, the golf competition is taking place in Calabasas, not Lake Sherwood, and that it is in the “west valley,” not the Conejo Valley.
I think they need a geography lesson.

More and more ads refer to us as west valley. Sigh.
