The earth-moving phase of the in the creation of the Westlake Sports Park and the Triunfo YMCA continues to have high visual impact. I am always shocked at the topographical change, when driving on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in either direction between Lindero Canyon Road and Via Colinas.
As I understand it, the dirt from knocking down the hills immediately adjacent to T.O. Blvd. is staying onsite. In effect the hills are just being “remodeled” to make a pad for building the YMCA and placing the park. I just don’t like to see hills destroyed, and Westlake is good at it. The past 10 years, they also removed a hill in vacant land north of the 101 Freeway, as you approach the Lindero Canyon Road offramp.
This view is taken just east of the Lindero Canyon/T.O. Blvd. intersection, December 29, 2009.
