NOT Pedestrian-Friendly by New Westlake Village Park Site

January 7th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Conejo Valley, Development, Uncategorized, Westlake Village

dsc01637If you have trouble reading the sign, it says, “Walk on Left Facing Traffic.”  These directions are given at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and La Baya Drive, across from the Westlake Village park site.

Talk about unsafe!  I wouldn’t walk in the street on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, facing traffic or with my back to it.  And, the sign is directing walkers to the construction side of the street.

It would seem that for pedestrian safety, the City of Westlake Village could build a path adjacent to the roadway.  After all, they have demonstrated in the earth moving project that they have plenty of money.

I don’t think that WLV has any concern for peds. I checked the walk score for 91362 and found that it was a dismal 2 out of 100. Totaly car dependant. A rating of 0-24 means that you can walk to your car. http://www.walkscore.com/
