On my walk this morning around the neighborhood, I only saw one other walker! Of course, it is spring break for students at the nearby public school, so little folks with large backpacks were not hurrying by. However, there were none of the usual dog walkers with their cheery greetings either, or the serious walkers in shorts with long strides, or the more casual walkers like me, with mufflers wrapped around their necks.
I think the wind kept everyone inside, but it was a glorious walk. I love being in the wind, unless stuff is blowing in my eyes…it wasn’t, and I had a fine time.
One thing I would like to get off my chest though, LET’S NOT WATER DURING A STRONG WIND EVENT!
There, I feel better. I walked by several homes with the sprinklers on and the water drops and mist were blowing all over the place. I’ll bet that these sprinkler systems are on a programmed schedule, which does not work very well when we are still having to conserve water. It is easy to forget to turn them off during rain or wind.
We still have to conserve. Even though there has been a lot more rain in the Conejo Valley this season compared to last, most of the potable water here does not come local sources, but from the Sacramento Delta. Metropolitan Water District is the supplier of this water to both Calleguas Municipal Water District, the water wholesaler for eastern Ventura County, and to Las Virgenes Municipal Water District.
