Friends Showing Up When You Least Expect It!

May 27th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Agoura Hills, Conejo Valley, Development, Economy, Elections, Las Virgenes, Oak Park, Outdoors, Ventura County

I pulled out my mail from the mailbox a few minutes ago, and glanced at a campaign mailer from Linda Parks, promoting her bid for re-election to the Ventura Board of Supervisors.   This mailer was about the pro-development money Audra Strickland has taken in her campaign, the mailer said around $296,000 and how Linda has not accepted any.  The front of the mailer also had a photo of some of the negative mailers that Audra has sent out against Linda, which I am so happy to say, I have not received.

Anyway, I opened up Linda’s mailer, and there was a photo of such a happy event…the dedication ceremony of the Ahmanson Ranch property for state open space, in 2003!  The photo shows Linda hugging two other longtime conservation activists, Sue Boecker of Oak Park and Mary Wiesbrock of Agoura Hills.  Mary, who is chair of Save Open Space, Santa Monica Mountains, is a frequent contributor to the Conejo Post, and Sue is a dear friend and on the SOS board.

As I said, friends turn up when you least expect it!  In a previous mailer of Linda’s, Derek Ross and family were pictured as supporters.  Derek is on the Oak Park MAC and has just started www.OakParkNow.com, which joins with www.OakParkUpdate.com in reporting ”goings-on” in Oak Park.

I will repeat that I strongly support Linda for Supervisor!  She has integrity and courage and is a fiscal conservative, all of which we need in these challenging times.

I have lived in Oak Park since 1988 and supported Save Open Space since I finished unpacking on move-in-day.
SOS is a grass roots movement here that is made up of non-professional political types. These people simple care about urban planing and want to make room for wild things. Open space and urban planing increases the value of our individual homes and increases the quality of our lives. Linda Parks has proven that she understands this.
Audra Strickland is a professional politician that is manipulating the division in this country to get elected. She has shown little or no interest in urban planing or the changes in the demographic of the region. We can not afford Audra.
