Audra’s Campaign is an Embarrassment to the Conejo Valley!

May 28th, 2010 · 7 Comments · Conejo Valley, Elections, Media, Ventura County

At the Conejo Post, I like to write about issues…pros and cons of decisions we have to make for the common good, or about what is going on, or how beautiful the Conejo is.  I don’t like to write about politics, because that can divide us, and I like to look for what brings us together.

But, that changed when I looked through my mail today and found that I had two hit pieces against Linda Parks that said they were paid for by “Audra Strickland for Supervisor 2010.”

I won’t even dignify these hate pieces by repeating what they said, but I will say that they reflect very badly on the source…Audra Strickland.  What has this woman, Audra, done to think that she should serve as our Supervisor?  Anything?  I would think that if a candidate had any self respect and pride, they would tell of what they think are their accomplishments, and what they would do if elected, and then we could decide who we want to vote for, based on facts.

Instead, voters receive Audra’s hate mailers!  It is these mailers, Audra’s neglect of the issues, her decision to go to a developer’s party instead of to a debate put on by the League of Women Voters, that show me she is not qualified to be elected to anything!

Had Audra Strickland, in her race to be Conejo Valley’s Supervisor, stuck to the issues, respected her opponent and given us a real choice in the election, I would not be writing this.  I do so to stand up for clean politics.  To read corrections to Audra’s attacks, go to:  http://voteforparks.com/honestycounts.html

This is a shame, that the issues facing this community are lost. This liberal vs conservative battle has no place here. The community is rapidly aging and there are many challenges ahead because of this. Who is liberal and who is conservative does not help the community address its needs. Audra does not see this. She is bad for us and our community.

My family and I have lived in Oak Park for over 10 years. In that entire time I have never seen an elected official with the passion for the community as I’ve seen with Linda Parks. Linda has balanced the county budget for 8 straight years without raising taxes and fought to keep our community free of needless development while protecting our precious open space for future generations.
What I’ve seen with Audra Strickland is a career politician that will say anything to win. With Linda Parks I see a public servant; with Audra Strickland just another mud slinging politician.
Let’s get the elected officials we deserve and reject this campaign of division and lies. Let’s re-elect Linda Parks for Ventura County Supervisor!

Strickland embodies the very worst in cold hard manipulation of the vote for selfish interest, both her own and that of the big money financial interests she so clearly is catering to. The idea of representing the will and the needs of the citizens of Ventura county does not even seem to enter her mind.

One would hope that our leaders are individuals who we can look up to, who inspire us, and who bring the best out in those they serve. I feel that this is true of Linda Parks. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about Audra Strickland.

Shame on Audra Strickland! I too was appalled by the Audra Strickland mailer that I received. It sounds like she has a writer from The Enquirer making up stories for her. Does she have no conscience? And to think she wants us, as citizens, to trust the levers of government to her — unthinkable!
