I love to learn new words, especially when they make me think, too. So, when I came across the word, “moneyburbs,†in an article in the Ventura County Star this morning, I glommed on to it.
The Star story, “Radio Station in T.O. Moving,â€Â told of radio station KJHL-FM, at 92.7 FM, planning to move their main office from Thousand Oaks to the Irvine area around early September. Bob Visotchy, soon-to-be marketing manager for the station, said that there will still be an office on T.O., but adding the Orange County office will increase the area receiving Jill FM, as it is called.
As Bob Visotchy said in the Star about selling advertising, “…we’re in the moneyburbs where the money’s being spent.â€Â I like that word!Â
And, now OC joins VC. Maybe we can have a reality TV show about our county one day too.Â

Moneyburbs is a great word and, based on the number of Jaguars, Maseratis and Ferraris I see each day, it’s pretty accurate. One day I saw an accident between a Mercedes 600 E and a high end Jaguar Salon Car on Lindero Canyon Road. Neither driver would give up her right-of-way. I think the repair bill for the two cars was more than my 4-Runner was worth.
