In this case, the developer went out of his way to appease the community. They had three different outreach meeting with the public to discuss the design and needs of the community. The overall concensus from those who attended (shame on you if you are complaining and didn’t voice your opinion) was that they didn’t want the Spanish style architecture that was used at the Albertsons center but something different and more modern for the area.
If you don’t like it, peek inside. It is designed to conform with LEED silver building requirements (green building ). It has a nice feel to it with lots of space for meandering.
The anchor store is going to be an organic natural grocery in 15,000 sq ft. I for one welcome something of the sort for those of us that reside in the east Conejo Valley. I just hope that they can beat the prices of the ‘Whole Paycheck’ store in Thouand Oaks that gets so much of my business.

Well by all means….please pave over every blade of grass in southern California as long as we follow LEED (certified silver) building standards. After all this oddly shaped facility will provide such vital services as a dry cleaners and a Mexican restaurant….amenities so hard to find in Conejo.

I now find that there is a third structure that I dislike. No.1 is T.O.’s boxy-looking city hall and arts plaza, No. 2 is the auto mall parking structure and now the buildings at the Lost Hills Rd area off the 101 Freeway. The buildings, to me, look out of character for the Conejo Valley. I hope that a tall wall will be built so that the sharp jutting rooflines are not visible from the freeway. It looks like another strip mall that I will not be patronizing.

Isn’t it wonderful that we have freedom of artistic expression here (in keeping with appropriate zoning laws, that is.) A property owner got creative and built something out of the box, and I applaud the owner for that! Critics, I would please ask that you look at the mall from inside the parking lot, before making a final judgement.

It’s obvious that Mikey doesn’t like everything. I’m all for paving as long as it’s permeable. I’m for replacing turf grass where it has no other use other than aesthetics. I applaud a dry cleaner that uses ‘green’ technology and geeze, who couldn’t use more Mexican? ;-)

Golly, I could go for a really good Mexican restaurant.
