If you live in the Triunfo Sanitation District or Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, you are invited to a tour to see partnership’s wastewater treatment and composting facilities in Calabasas.
I know that a first thought about such a tour might be that it would be boring, but that is not the case! It is interesting and the tour is fast-paced and well done. What I found most fascinating was the visit to the lab at Tapia Treatment Center, where they show folks various glass containers of wastewater, sampled as it goes through the treatment process, and talk of the biology and chemistry involved with it. Kids over 12, accompanied by an adult can come, too, and I think they would enjoy it.
Yes, it is free to residents of Oak Park, the Thousand Oaks part of Westlake Village, Lake Sherwood, parts of North Ranch, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, and Bell Canyon. The tour is from 8:45 AM to 1 PM at the LVMWD headquarters at 4232 Las Virgenes Road, in Calabasas. A reservation is required and you can call (818) 251-2200 for that.
