Check Sprinklers

August 20th, 2010 · No Comments · Conejo Valley, Water Issues

It is a given that we have to keep conserving water in the Conejo Valley.  To take Oak Park Water Service as an example, ratepayers beat the goal of the year ending June 30, with conservation of 17% over the base year.  That is 2% better than our 15% mandated goal from Metropolitan Waster District (MET), through Calleguas Municipal Water District (Calleguas).  The same goal is in effect again for the year starting July 1.

All this is a windy intro to say, “let’s check our sprinklers regularly!”  Here is a photo of one of mine that sticks and won’t pop up, so that it is not watering efficiently.  On the walk around the front yard, I also noticed one that is not operating at all.  No wonder the grass is turning brown!

When water was plentiful for irrigating, we didn’t have to think about our sprinklers much, but now we do.  For instance, who wants to pay the water bill, just to have sprinklers irrigating the street, with water running into a storm drain?
