Black lions shoot water from their mouths at a fountain adjacent to Sharky’s, at the southwest corner of Thouand Oaks Boulevard and Westlake Boulevard. The water feature is just a mile or two away from where Jungleland Park used to be, where the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza sits now.
Is it a coincidence that the mall developer chose a fountain highlighting lions, instead of, say, fish? Or is it a tribute to the Jungleland, that was started in 1927, and then torn down in the mid-70′s? To read more history, go to: http://ci.thousand-oaks.ca.us/living/historical.asp
