Since three candidates filed for three Oak Park MAC positions up for election this November, there will not be an election. I talked with Jan Osterhaven at Supervisor Linda Parks’ office yesterday (8-17) who told me the candidates will be appointed in lieu of election by the Venture County Board of Supervisors, probably in October.
Congratulations to incumbents Mike Green, Mike Paule, and new-to-the MAC, Alon Glickstein! Appointments instead of elections save the money it costs to take part in an election, but the downside is the lack of debate among candidates that the press would cover, which lets voters know the candidates and issues.
