I am investing in the latest solar technology…for flashlights, that is! I am so pleased with my new little flashlight, which is 4 inches at the longest point, by 1-1/2 inches. In the photo, it is facing off against the old technology light, which is heavier and larger.
What I did not notice when I bought the old technology item, is that it is not openable to replace batteries. It is, in effect, a use-and-toss light, to fill up our landfills. While the new flashlight is also unopenable, I am hoping the solar battery lasts a very long time, and I won’t have to toss it soon. It also has a ring on it for putting on a key ring, I guess, but in a pocket or purse, it wouldn’t get much sun. It was $5.99, but since I won’t have to replace batteries, it seems like a good deal.

I have a much better flashlight deal. Check the local Sunday paper and you will find a coupon for a free flashlight from Harbor Freight (Stores in Woodland Hills and Camarillo). They have been giving them away every week for over a year. (I have a drawer full of them) And the batteries are replaceable. Amazing that an aluminun, decent little flashlight can be made in China and shipped all the way to the US and given away for free….here’s a link to the coupon
