I just posted on Sunday, about the great work adult volunteers are doing in the Conejo Valley and Ventura County, and today I am highlighting the volunteer efforts of some kids in the Conejo.
Harry tells me that almost 20 children, aged three through eight, took a clean-up hike along Medea Creek in Oak Park and picked up trash yesterday. This was one of the monthly events held by the CHEVRE Club, which stands for “Conejo Hikers Enjoying Ventura’s Rural Environs,” and is also a Hebrew word for “a supportive network of friends.”
The next CHEVRE clean-up hike is going to be Sunday afternoon, September 26 ,starting at Chaparral Park in Oak Park. For more info, contact chevreclub@yahoo.com. A big “thank you” to these young community volunteers! I am sure the ducks and the egret in the photo of Medea Creek appreciate the clean up, as well.

Thank you, Janna, for your kind words. We hope more kids can join us on our next hike on September 26. Thanks, Shoshana (age 8)
