Thank You, David Ross!

September 8th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Conejo Valley, History, Oak Park

I was sorry to read in the VC Star yesterday(9-7) that David Ross was retiring from the board of the Community Foundation of Oak Park.

David Ross is one of the good guys of Oak Park, and has been, since way before I moved to the Conejo Valley in 1997.  He was one of the founders of the non-profit Foundation in 1979, which has served as an embrella group for so many community groups, to make sure they have charitable status and insurance.  For instance, the Oak Park Community Garden is one of these groups.

I served with David on the Oak Park Landscape Committee in around 2005, when we were battling to save the original oak trees along a stretch of Kanan Road.  I found him dedicated and knoweledgeable about plants and trees, and how to get things done as well.

We will miss you as a Foundation member, David, but I am so glad you are staying put in Oak Park!  To read the story in the VC Star by Rachel McGrath, go to:  http://www.vcstar.com/news/2010/sep/06/ross-steps-down-from-community-foundation-after/?print=1  Here is a link to the Foundation:  http://www.oakparkfoundation.org/

Thank you David for your many years of service to the residents of Oak Park. You should be proud of your many accomplishments in helping to make our community one of the most desired places to live in Southern California.
