Victory over critters in my backyard!  I beat them to the first strawberry of the year!  This morning I spotted a red-ripe, untouched strawberry from one of the 3 little plants that are growing in a flower bed, and picked it.

I was thrilled to pop it in my mouth and savor the sweetness, instead of having to pass it by, because a bird or 4-legged had half eaten it.

Pictured are 2 other berries that are almost ripe.  Next task is to set a plastic berry basket upside down over them, to protect them, as best I can, from hungry critters.
