A Frolic at the Janss Dancing Fountains

August 28th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Meditations, Thousand Oaks

Do you ever just want to act like a kid?  That was where I was today, as I went shopping at the Janss Mall this afternoon about 3 PM.  I got out of my car in the parking lot, and was hit by, what felt like, a wall of hot air. The air quality was not so good either, because of the smoke from nearby fires.

I just wanted to go speedily into Old Navy, make a purchase, and get back to air conditioning ASAP.

And then I saw kids and toddlers at the water feature at the entrance to the mall.  There must have been 20 or 30 of them, most in bathing suits, standing in the jetting water, or running around from upspurt to upspurt of each fountain.  Moms and dads either sat around the fountain area, or helped some of the younger ones be brave enough to try the water.

Wow, did it look fun!  Who wants to be hot and uncomfortable, when an option could be running around and splashing in fountains?

What a draw the fountains have become for Conejo kids on a hot day.  Thank you Janss Mall!

And, if one day, you happen to see a dark-haired woman (with blondish highlights)  joining the kids  in the fountain frolic, please say, “Hi.”  It will probably be me.

I could watch the kids play in that fountain for hours. After a difficult day at work, one of my fave things to do is have a iced coffee and watch families ad kids take in the fountain. It is a very refreshing thing.
